In top view create a circle of r = 0.1, r = 0.05 and r = 0.35. Move the circles to respectively (1.2, 10.35), (1.2,10.5) and (1.2,10.9). Now create a new spline with four corner vertices and move it to (0, 10.25). An interpolation of 6 should be sufficient. Snap the first vertex to the bottom of the lowest circle. Move the second to x = 0 on the same y as the first.

Snap the fourth to the top of the highest circle and move the third vertex similar to the second.

Now attach the circles to the line by clicking attach under geometry and picking the circles and delete the left right left segments of the circles and weld the vertices together. Next apply a Lathe modifier with 24 segments and check weld core.

Create a new circle of r = 0.1 and place it on (2.25, 11.65). Now create a new line with four corner vertices and place it on (0, 11.55). Set the interpolation to 6. The first vertex is snapped to the bottom of the circle. The second on the same y, but x = 0. The third goes to (0,16.35) and the fourth is snapped to the top of the circle. Transform the top vertex into a Bezier Corner and set the handle horizontally, while the handle of the fourth vertex should be vertically. Adjust them to yield a nice bell shape. Then attach the circle and delete the left segments of it. Now weld it all together and apply a lathe modifier with 6 segments and weld core.

This is a good time to make a spare copy of the two parts in case you screw up. Select the lowest part of the pommel, apply and Edit Poly modifier to it and attach the upper part. Now select the polygons (4) that are facing each other. The easiest way to do this is to box select a part of the polygons including these in perspective view and deselect those you dont need with alt + box select. If done correctly you have now 30 polygons selected. Return to top view and with the polygons selected click the window next to Bridge under Edit Polygons. Set Twist 1 to 2, Segments to 8 and taper to -0.5.

On the top part of the pommel select a vertical edge and Loop and Ring it until you have all top part vertical edges selected. Then apply a chamfer under Edit Edges of 0.1 cm.

Finally create a nice button on top of the pommel.
