Connecting piece

This piece is the connection between the grip, the cross guard and the blade. Were going to make it using loft again. So create a Rectangle of L = 0.7 and W = 3.4, move it to (0,0), add an Edit Spline modifier and put a vertex into the middle of both of the horizontal segments. Now transform these vertices into Smooth and move them to y = 1.3 and y = -1.3 respectively. Transform the other vertices into Corner and change the Smooth vertices into Bezier. Apply another Edit Spline modifier and apply a fillet of 0.1 cm to the original corner vertices to round them off. Select the top vertex and click on Make First under Geometry.

Copy this spline and delete the last Edit Spline. Move the original corner vertices to x = 0.6 and x = -0.6 respectively. Transform all vertices into Bezier.

Create a vertical line and move it to (0,0). Move the top vertex to y = 0.25 and the bottom vertex to y = -3.35. Now apply a loft and select the first shape. Under Path Parameters select Distance again and set the Path to 1 cm. Select the first shape again and set the Path to 3 cm. Select the second shape. Make sure Optimize Shapes is unselected and set both step parameters to 6.

Under deformations click on scale, move the last point down to 0. Transform both points in Bezier Corner and move the handle of the first point to the far right in horizontal position. Now move the handle of the last point to about 20 in vertical position.

Create a cone with H = 15, R1 = 0.25, R2 = 0.7, segments = 32. Set y rotation to 90 and move it to (1.7, 0, 0). Now click on the hierarchy tab (next to modify tab) and select Affect Pivot Only. Move the pivot of the cone to x = 0 and deselect the APO. Apply a mirror modifier and check copy.

Create a helix of H = 12, turns = 30, R1 = 1 and R2 = 1. Select CW for clockwise. Next create a Circle with R = 0.2. Under interpolation set Steps to 2. Apply an Edit Spline modifier, go to segment level (2) and remove the right segments. Select the helix again and add a Bevel Profile modifier. Click Pick Profile and select the Circle. Now you get an idea of a metal wire wrapped around the handle but it is facing the wrong way, so apply an Edit Poly modifier and select vertex level (1). Select all vertices and weld them together with a threshold of 0.1 cm. Now select polygon level (4) and select all polygons. Click on Flip under Edit Polygons. Go to edge level (2) and click on slice plane under Edit Geometry. Move the plane to z = 1 and slice. Next move it to z = 11 and slice.

Delete everything above and under the slices so you get a piece of 10 cm. The easiest way to do this is in front view with a large zoom in. Now move the pivot to (0,0,1) (see Crossguard) and apply a Taper modifier. Set the curve to 1.4 and the grip is done. Move the grip to (0, 0.25, 0) and set the x rotation to -90.
