For anyone needing to quickly create hydraulic or pneumatic pistons that are nicely rigged (move either of the parent objects and the piston follows).

Each piston gets a custom shader assigned that goes red when it is extended too far, and blue when it is compressed too far. (Visible in textured mode).

Workflow:
- rotate the joint or otherwise move the endpoint objects to their greatest seperation distance appart.
- select the from-end object, then the to-end object (anything that I can read the [objectPivot-]position of and parent things under);
- run the makePiston command (e.g. from a shelfIcon).
- - enter the name suffix, and select 2- or 3-part piston
- optionally hide the measure-tool made as part of the piston to tidy up the display (it's selected after makePiston so just hit ctrl+h).
- optionally tweak the piston part shapes.
- enjoy the results. (c:

Will likely work on older Maya versions also as it is fairly straight forward.
(Tested in Maya6.5 and 7.0 on winXP.  Should work find on other OS's/versions too)
v1.2: fixed shader assignment method to not require having used hypershade previously this session.
