I wrote a script like this but I ended up using someone else's everyday simply because it offers more option in a very simple UI.
Maybe you can put zoom and offset option for camera tracking? Put controls for imagePlane. These two features are the least you need, I think.

Thanks a lot for this.
I have 2 suggestions:
1) Grab the current panel so that when a camera is selected, it will update the current viewport rather than UL viewport.
2) Add buttons for camera bookmarks.
