The archiTool is a collection of edge based action mel tools for Maya 4.5 or higher.
Edges can be modified to an exact measurement you specified either entering a number or with help of slider. firstly, you need to select edges in component mode in order to measure the right length, the excepton is one with curves. it will be recognized only in object mode.
and then the functions you might want to choose from are
RESIZE EDGE by EDGE (based on pivot point of component) RESIZE OBJECT by EDGE RESCALE by EDGE REDO on new selection with the last fuction. . ROTATION SNAP

not only single selection, but I will recognize and work on multiple selections. give a good try then you will notice how it works..
