Mental_ray_Verified_view.jpg

Hi All,
This is a project I have finished recently whilst at GMJ design ltd.
The image is one of the 30 renders that came straight from 3Ds Max using mental ray. No post effects were required.
After the 30 views had been chosen and agreed upon by the planning authorities, developers, and architects, I had begun the process of organizing surveyors and photographers to go to the numerous sites.
The survey data and photography was gather and used in compliance with the planning authorities.
This meant that certain standard techniques with environment/background switcher shader etc couldn’t be used, as this shader is not yet fully integrated with the mental ray daylight system.
Daylight system is very crucial, as it is highly recognised and approved by the planning authorities.
Moreover, due to the fact that we (at the GMJ) only had 30 plus days to submit 30 images (i.e. 30 drastically different verified views), it wasn’t practical to take the chrome/and grey balls to all sites. Therefore I had to manually match seamlessly the sun light’s intensity, colour and the physical properties of all 3d objects in the scene.
The verified views methodology is covered in detail in the 2nd edition of my 1st book.
I would like to think that, the end result was a success.
I hope you share the same opinion.
Any comments would be welcomed
Kind Regards,
Jamie
