Hi, you can query the time unit using the currentUnit command. -

Yes well the problem with this is that it uses events And scripted event handlers do not update during playback because they are suspended for speeds sake. So this can cause some visual problems when blasting it, but definetly is a problem when scrubbing. Otherwise a good package, you might want to prepend the proc names with your name tough since especiualy getTime() is roblematic and can cause clashes. However ive released a demonstrative version of this on the forums that circumvents the problem by using a expression to update the hud: https://www.highend3d.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=216286&hl=timecode anyway basicaly you just need the line: expression -n "hudRefresh" -s ("headsUpDisplay"+ "-refresh HUDhalonTimecode;") -o "" -ae 1 -uc al; offcousre mines just a example its not packaged PS you should implement way to push the timeBase in either manualy or by implication. -

This is not so much re-inventing the wheel, since the current timecode is not as useful as it could be as was mentioned. Maya's implimentation is hard to read amid keys and the timeline, and doesnt appear during playblasts. -

why do you try to reinvent the whell ? you can view then timecode in the Time Slider and it`s working with any frame rate and with custom offset if you need. (Window > Settings/Preferences > Preferences... > Timeline) -
