For some reason, Maya's Polygons/Smooth command will smooth your object but won't "smooth" the newly created UVs, resulting in not very nice texture maps distorsions.(check the demoscene included in the RAR file to compare "smoothed" UVs vs "unsmoothed" UVs)
This script will allow you to generate a smoothed version of your base mesh with "smoothed" uvs.
