This is such a fantastic method to achieve this level of control. I have many rigs where I want to be able other rig sections (arms, legs) to a base in a way that they can still move around along a path, I was using a bit of a hacked method before, creating a motion path, deleting keyframes, and using cotrolling U attributes with CTRL objects. This works the same way without any odd Cycle Check issues or any problems. Fantastic!
Tested on Maya 2009 on Mac OS X 10.5.7 with no problems.
