Cycle error causing delay when selecting MAINCntrl

Date:05/13/2015
Submitted by: Mike Prather Mike Prather
I have a rig created in RRM with Maya 2015 and I would like to use the rig in Maya 2016 but I have a cycle error when selecting the MAINCntrl of my rig. This is the message:

Cycle on 'RIGNAME_MAINCtrl.scale' may not evaluate as expected.

Also, the reset transformations does not work in the RRS

Ah yes. The node editor is also quite slow. I use it quite a bit and if it is open when a user generates a rig, it takes much, much longer for the rig to generate. I am using an iMac so your machine is probably more capable than mine. To get even more performance out of the rigs, you should check out the new Parallel Rig Evaluation in Maya 2016. It looks pretty cool! -Dustin

Thanks Dustin, I discovered a few things within the last few days also that might be part of the issue. I still get a long lag when selecting the MainCtrl but I found that if I close the hypershade window, the lag goes away. I don't know if it has to do with the new hypershade format in 2016 or the fact I am on a mac pro but knowing that I have to close that window has helped. Also, I no longer get a cycle error after cleaning out all the vray nodes. It is all mental ray now and there are no more errors. I haven't had anymore issues with the reset transformations either so I suppose that somewhere along the line I cleaned up the problem... needless to say most of my issues were user error. BTW just want to say a personal thanks for RRM...it has saved me so much time and it is so very easy to use. Thanks!

I haven't tested RRM and RRS with Maya 2016 but I will look into this asap! Thanks for the heads up. -Dustin
