Feature Request

Change World Up Axis? (Z-Up vs Y-Up)

Status:rejected
Date:07/29/2016
Submitted by:Dustin Nelson Dustin Nelson
Heya. So , Unreal works with Z-up, so my Maya project is set Z-Up. However, the rigger seems to generate only Y-Up. Is there a way to change this as a setting?

Unfortunately I do not know of any way to do this that would not require writing more code that would double the file size and make the script immensely bloated and difficult to debug and work with. Any time an object needs to be positioned, rotated or scaled, I would need to check if the setting should be Y or Z and run separate code. The only other option would be to have an entirely different script for Z-up, which means any update needs to be done in two files. For the sake of my limited time and sanity, I won't be able to do this. -Dustin

I understand. In fact the point is moot. The game engine I'm dealing with takes a y up fbx and converts it to z up.
