Feature Request

Asymmetrical orientation of joints for easier rotation

Status:added

Hi, Dustin! Sorry if this function is already there, but if not: in many cases it makes sense to rotate right and left side of the character simultaneously and in one direction. If I rotate fingers on the left hand to close them, I might want to do the same on the right side (at least for draft animation, I know that final movement shouldn’t be exactly symmetrical for artistic reasons but it’s sometimes easier to add irregularities later). The point is: rotate clockwise on one side = rotate clockwise on the other.

This is a big one that people have been asking for. I chose not to build it this way for a few reasons, the biggest is that a lot of controls have translation, not only rotation so the translations in local space are really haywire. RRM: Selector has UI elements for mirroring poses which can be a bit slow. So as of version 1.4.7, I have included a script for mirroring poses. The directions are inside the file to learn more. I will be making a video to explain it in more detail but the instructions in the contents of the file should help. At some point, I might revisit this but I want to start developing a facial rig tool first. -Dustin
