Puppet Master is a creature rig builder for a biped creature, It script works based on a set of locators positioned for outline the placement of bones in the body . Feel free to email me ideas of extra options
To Install the script, place the .mel file into your script directory and then drag the .mel file into the Maya screen, and create a Shelf button with the script command
This script will create a fully ready to animate character rig, with Icon Controls, Display Layers & a Character set, ready to animate
Ok, the script is simple, just follow the instruction of the Puppet Master Locator Naming System and then type in the script command, which is
PuppetRig;
Or if the file or is the file does not find it you can use this line in the Shelf instead
select -cl ;
source "C:/Documents and Settings/ Username /My Documents/maya/7.0/scripts/Puppet_Master.mel";
PuppetRig;
A small window will appear, this is where you enter the Creature Character Name the other options you require and then press Build Creature Rig
And then the script will do the rest
! ! Do not parent the locators under anything, leave them unparented in the outliner ! !
! ! The Script is only setup for 1:1 scale at the moment, so all icons will be around 1:1 size ! !
! ! So if you are working at a different scale, scale up to 1:1 make the rig and scale it back ! !
! ! To stop the IK-FK arms flipping, you must make the locators for the arms planar ! !
! ! This applies to the locator A3 positioned planar (flat) between A2 - A4 ! !
Place
the locators at the bone locations on your character, based on the
above diagram
