Just copy the content of the file psmooth.mel into the melscript editor and excute it.
This script will be helpful to delete the polysmooth nodes for the selected objects or all objects. U can use this script effectively in very large scenes to handle the smooth nodes alone .Just make sure that polysmooth node name generated by maya is not changed .It won't work if u import the object with smoothnode .to avoid this,While importing uncheck the usednamespace checkbox & change the filename optiion to string under the names clash options which u can find under the import options.
