pi_fluidRender v1.0
created by: Pete Inge, pinge@vt.edu
This script is to aid the Fluid to Polygon object in Maya 8.0. Reflections and caustics do
not work with Maya's fluid containers. In order to get the reflections and caustics you
have to use convert fluid to polygon object. However the polygon object will not update for
batch renders. This script updates the polygon object in between every frame.
In order to make this work, fill in the start frame, end frame. The layer name has to be
the exact layer name that the fluid object is in that needs to be toggled off. At the start
of the render this layer needs to be turned off. Choose the directory you want the images
to be saved in, and title the file. If you type "example", then the file names will be
saved as "example_frame#.ext". And finally choose the file type and start the render.
Since there is no way to abort the loop, it is recommended that you do 5 or 10 frames first to
make sure everything is working properly, then do the remainder of the render.
I am new to MEL so any questions, comments or feedback are welcome. Please e-mail me at pinge@vt.edu.
Also, I have not been able to test it with a windows version of Maya 8.0, so if anyone is interested in trying aand let me know that would be great, thanks.
