The Octopus was loosely based on Ray Harryhausens design from Mysterious Island. It is built entirely of polygons and rigged for dynamic simulation. Each tentacle is being driven with a hair curve. The hair system has a turbulent intensity causing the tentacles to undulant during playback. The UVs are laid out and assigned to five separate materials. Displacement maps give the octopus its final look.
