  • The Sky Fisherman Editor's Pick

    RockinAkin on 3/11/2009

The Sky Fisherman was inspired by a concept drawing and story by the concept artist Stoph. The two boys; Eli and Ardent ride the skies on the back of their turtle; Artoise, hunting a menacing species of flying squid that terrorizes their shores.

The base-mesh and prop modeling were done in 3ds Max, and high-res sculpting was done in ZBrush.

After the model was completed, I had the great pleasure of having the fantastic people at Offload Studios create a 18 inch tall physical 3D print of the model! Their work is truly amazing (magic as far as I'm concerned), and it's been awesome to see them do what they do best. Be sure to check out the rest of the 3D prints they've done at their website.

  • Poor Pluto Editor's Pick

    The M.h.p.e. on 10/10/2008

With Earth as the leader, the planets of the
Solar System has turned against poor Pluto excluding him from their
    group of planets.

This image is build upon recent events in
which Pluto has been degraded to a "dwarf planet". It is now no longer
part of the classic lines of planets. It's strange when you've been
able to memorize the planets ever since you were a kid, and for the
future will have to leave this poor little icy rock out. :(

I liked doing a smaller project for a change.
I had this simple idea, and worked on/off for little about a week on
completing this image. I had great fun stuffing as many little funny
details into the image as I could, and I hope you enjoy this image as
much as I enjoyed making it!

Thanks to all who posted feedback in the wip-threads at 3dmaxer.dk and Blender Artists Forums!

This is my latest personal project which I did to improve my skills and well... have fun

I wanted to make her look thoughtful, realizing of being forgotten. I was thinking that making a beautiful girl with that kind of look will give an impression of slight emptiness in her personality.

    Hope you'll like it...

  • Open Green Editor's Pick

    cryinghorn on 8/4/2008

    Hello, everybody

This is my latest work I've been working for sometime.

This is probably the first time I made an image starting with color scheme. I saw a photo where a green leaf is put on human arm and I thought that those two colors suit each other so great. So that was basically enough for me to inspire me on this.

This is no one particular. I've used reference of Adriana Karembeu, but I didn't want to make her.

Made with 3dsmax, with the little help of zbrush. Textures are hand painted, ornaments made using various patterns kaleidoscoping them, editing and so on. Hair, eyebrows and eyelashes made using ornatrix. Cloth is simulated.

    Cheers!
