playblast issues

when i playblast via shot view, (maya 2011) it is coming out horrible aith artifacts an low resolution, When i use shot veiw in maya 2008 i dont have this problem, I even went as far as to copy my exact settings from 2008 to 2011, but still no success, but when i use the maya playblast meaning i select the shot view window and right click on the time line within maya and play blast the play blast comes out fine, any body know why this is happening.
i did see that when i check the playbalst properties, the play blast from shot view is using microsoft video 1, but when the playblast that looks correct is using WRAW no idea what this is
