Q/A

Rig controllers not updating in viewport 2

Date:09/02/2014
Submitted by: eranhill eranhill
Hey!

im having a strange problem.
while animating my character in viewport 2 maya 2015 and 2014 sometimes the controllers are left behind.
their visual representaion is stuck behind and they are clickable  in thier real location which i cant see, just assume.

when switching back to the legacy viewport it looks right. switching back to vp2 its still stuck somewhere.
only way i found is to somehow click that lagged controller and move it then it snaps back.

any idea whats causing this ?

its pretty important for this project to be animated while in vp2.

Thanks!!

I witnessed this at the school I teach at. It was on rigs that my students were creating. When they were using viewport 2.0 for a simple IK/FK arm setup, the controls were not updating and the geometry was not deforming correctly. This is a bug in Maya unfortunately. I saw this in Maya 2014 but it could be in 2015 as well. At this point, all I can suggest is not use viewport 2.0, but I realize you want to be able to use vp2.0 for your animation. -Dustin

Hi, I am not sure why that would be happening... I have never seen that before. Is it all controls or only certain ones? Could you send me your file? Thanks! -Dustin
