Arm and Head orient not switching.

Date:07/21/2014

Hi Dustin,

First, let me say this is a great autorigger! Reall well put together.

My issue right now is that the head and the arms will only orient themselves to world space. I see that there is an orientation switch in the channel box for both controls, but it has no effect. Consequently, it is not allowing the wrist joint to rotate properly (it acts as if it has an aim constraint of some sort, only rotating about half the distance that the controller does.)

Is there a global control for this I may be missing?

Thanks!

Hm. As I keep climbing through it for solutions, I notice that none of the orient nodes are working well. The pole vector control seems to be effected by the IK hand control no matter what space it is set too – but only like 50% influence, almost like it is split between two parent constraints. This same kind of partial influence effect happens as I try to play with the space switchers on the IK hand as well. There is some kind of influencer I am missing, I swear.

Nevermind. Figured it out. At first I thought it was because I had brazenly deleted a controller I wasn't using, and that it had disrupted the path of an expression or something. But it turns out it was because I had to open it up in a previous version of Maya in order to workaround a weight painting display issue, and when I brought it back in to May 2015 it had broken all of the space switching nodes. Lesson learned.
