SkinJoints select nodes in maya 2016 osx don't select the bones. so I get the error you must select at least one bone when trying to skin.

    There is no fucntionality included to automatically select the skin joints. You have to select the joints through the provided sets in the outliner after the rig is completed. This is briefly shown in the beginning of the features video. Please don't report something as bug which is obviously a user error.

    Sorry, I reported it as a bug because its the sets in the outliner(after rig is completed) that are not selecting the bones. when I manually select the provided sets in the way described in your video no bones get selected, and as a consequence skinning fails.

    This is also not a bug but how sets work in Maya. You don't select the set but ratehr right-click on it and choose "Select Set Members". Things like this should be placed in the support forum and not underneath bugs.
