I was originally taught that maintain offset was a somewhat buggy feature when I was originally learning Maya. I don't remember the exact reasons, but I believe it had to do with nodes flipping earlier than 180/360 degrees if maintain offset was used, much like the problem with follicles. In fact, Good Parenting was written in part as a way of avoiding Maintain Offset. That's what the Buffering options are for. I feel like adding Maintain Offset kind of defeats the purpose of the script, but if people really want it I wouldn't mind going in and adding it. Do you still want this feature?

I would second this request. Adding the buffer node is one way of dealing with it, but there are situations where you don't want to have an extra node created and simply want your offset maintained. This is one of the benefits of the parent constraint, actually. In addition, if adding more than one constraint, the extra buffer node approach isn't going to work as the script will create a different buffer node with each instance of the script running. Otherwise, great script!

Is it possible to parent and have it Not maintain offset? so if I have a bunch of randomly scattered locators, and a bunch of cubes on the origin, when I hit parent the cubes will move to the position of the locators. How do I get that function with this script? Thanks!
