You could change line 260 to be true (-rn true). This would make the curves animatable by making the curve extrusion partial and adding the subCurve attributes to the resulting extrusions.
Even nicer would be to add these attributes to the shapenode for easy animation. As "grow" for example.

I guess it's possible for everyone to just modify that one line if they want to, but some people might not know how.
