Q/A

dupliverts with animation

Date:11/08/2011
Submitted by: proundkontra proundkontra
first thanks for the nice script. i use i a lot.
but now i have a question. when i have a plane and some cubes and use the dupliverts script to place the cubes on the plane. it works perfect. but when i animate the plane with for example a wave deformer, the cubes stay at the same place, but i want them to move with the plane. does some one now how to do that?

thanks a lot

Hi Niko, Dupliverts doesn't have any built in methods of attaching to the parent object's surface. In the scenario you described, you can have the wave deformer affect everything by just grouping all your objects and then applying the deformer specifically to that group node. If you need the cubes to move with the plane but not get deformed themselves, I'd say take a look at one of the popular rivet scripts for maya. They should allow you to attach the objects in a way that they will move with the plane as it moves, without using the deformer on them. Best, Jesse
