Hi there.
When ever I try to create an animation pose from a referenced character I get this error.
// Error: File contains unknown nodes or data. To preserve this information, the current file type cannot be changed. //

we are using Maya 2012 x64

any ideas as to why this would happen?

Check your scene for unknown nodes. if this returns anything ls -type "unknown"; then you have unknown nodes. get rid of them and try again
