Soft Cluster EX is a python and c++ based tool for converting soft selection to cluster or joint, supports common types of deformable geometry(e.g. polygon,nurbs ,subdiv and lattice) with a lot of advance features.

Hey man
Not sure if you would have time for this but it would be sweet if when you created the cluster/joint from soft selection you could have an option that would add a grouped controller to it which controlled the cluster /joint ?
