Skinner is sensitive to the mesh configuration to apply. Before applying skinner, it is recommended to clean up any abnormal mesh topologies such as duplicated faces or separated vertices/edges, etc.
I have already added some codes to detect such things but it seems that there are still some failure cases. To use skinner, please try to make your mesh clean first so that it doesn't have any topological defect. If you are able to send me the file that you are having the problem then it would be very helpful to me find the reason. Thanks!
