I'm trying to export a rigged and skinned model from Maya 2008 to MotionBuilder 7.5. The mesh is coming through ok but no matter what kind of rig is on there it breaks when brought into MotionBuilder. Does anyone have any idea as to why?
Motionbuilder pretty much only needs the joints that control geometry. Other rigging for things like IK and such are made when you characterize in Motionbuilder. Then it will make your FK and IK rig for you. I have not had a lot of luck with getting even simple rigs to import into MObu from Maya. I find it easier to rig any extras in Mobu directly. That's just me, and admittedly I am an animator and not a TD :). Hope this helps
